Valladolid is a Mayan city located roughly 90 minutes by car from Cancun. It is home to Centro Medico San Lucas – a private hospital with four operating theatres and a thriving medical clinic that serves a large catchment area in the central Yucatán. Valladolid is known for its tourism – centrally located to ancient Mayan ruins, hundreds of cenotés (underground lakes), and centuries-old monasteries.
Each day, the surgical team will enter the hospital to triage and treat patients in the clinic and perform surgery in the O.R. The village medical team will serve in nearby Mayan jungle villages by setting up remote clinics and treating patients who have little to no access to healthcare. Each evening the team will reconvene for dinner - glorifying God for the events of the day.
The team will also spend a limited amount of time getting to know the history and geography of the region – including visiting stunning archaeological Mayan ruins as well as the best local Cenoté.
Warning: participants may return home forever changed.
